Cookie

A "cookie" is a small text file that a website can place on your computer's hard drive in order, for example, to collect information about your activities on the site or to make it possible for you to use an online "shopping cart" to keep track of items you wish to purchase. The cookie transmits this information back to the Web site's computer which, generally speaking, is the only computer that can read it. Most consumers do not know that "cookies" are being placed on their computers when they visit websites. If you want to know when this happens, or to prevent it from happening, you can set your browser to warn you when a website attempts to place a "cookie" on your computer.

Adobe Acrobat File

Overview of Acrobat File (.PDF)
.PDF is a file format that lets you look at Microsoft Word, Excel, and other documents over the web, in the way they were intended.  They look great printed, and work well for placing in your Club's newsletter.  The one catch is you must have the FREE Adobe Acrobat Reader to view the .PDF.

What is PDF?

PDF stands for Portable Document Format. It was developed by Adobe Corporation to allow efficient electronic distribution of large documents. A PDF file will look the same on the screen and in print regardless of what kind of computer you are using or which software package it was created from. A large document can be compressed small enough to download quickly, and displays text and pictures as if you were looking at the original book or brochure. At our site, we provide documents like our annual report in PDF for easy viewing.

What do I need to view a PDF file?

  • Any computer can view a PDF file using Acrobat Reader, which is a free download at the following link. Follow the directions for installation at the Adobe site.

When I have Acrobat Reader installed, how do I look at the file?

  • Just click on the hyperlink you wish to view and it will display on your browser with VCR-like forward and reverse buttons that step you through the pages. Acrobat Reader features text searching and zoom close-up functions, and you can display pages in different formats.

How can I download a copy of the PDF file to my computer?

  • PC users, right-click on the link. Mac Users, option-click on the link. Designate where and how you wish to save the file. When you wish to view the file later, make sure your browser is open (it does not need to be online), and open the file through Adobe Acrobat Reader.

Can I print a hard copy of the PDF file?

  • The file can be printed to most printers.
