The Mt. Hood Cultural Center and Museum preserves and showcases
the history of Mt. Hood. The mission of the Museum is to safeguard
all aspects of the history of the area: from the Mountain’s
geology, the Barlow Road, and natural history, to the rich history
of mountaineering and skiing. The Museum provides a venue in which
to enjoy arts, lectures, performing arts, education, and community
social events. We have something for everyone who loves Mt. Hood! |

An important historical memory for many, many skiers is skiing the
Glade Trail. Officially the Glade has long been closed to
recreational skiers, but the Mt. Hood Cultural Center and Museum
in cooperation with the U.S. Forest Service and Timberline is
presenting our second annual Ski the Glade Trail Day on March 6,
2004. This important Museum fundraising event will begin with
morning coffee and camaraderie, a continuous shuttle from the
bottom of the Glade to Timberline, local trail guides, Ski Patrol
services, a hearty lunch at the Museum, an après ski party, and
much more. Space is limited, so call to make your reservations
today! |

Join us for our monthly lecture series the first Saturday of each
month from 7:00–8:30 pm. Topics include volcanic activity on Mt.
Hood, the WPA, Indian rock art, poetry readings, and more.
Everyone is welcome. |

Volunteer archivists have been hard at work cataloguing new
additions to our collection which include physical objects, paper
archive items, books, and photos. Our photographic collection
includes never-before-seen photos of Mt. Hood from the estate of
Hal Lidell. The oldest item is a sickle that came across the
Oregon Trail. |

In addition to many individuals, foundations, corporations, and
county and state government, our friends at the Northwest Ski Club
Council are among the many supporters of the Museum! Casino Night
2003 was an evening of delicious food, visiting with old and new
friends alike, and trying our chances against Lady Luck! Proceeds
from the event were donated to the Museum. Thank you one and all
for your support! Visit the Museum today and don’t miss the
special trip down memory lane at Ski the Glade Trail Day on March
6, 2004. Mt. Hood Cultural Center and Museum. |
