You'll find ski-in/ski-out condo lodging NO lift lines and plenty of friendly locals

When I first visited Bogus Basin some 15 years ago I had never heard of it, but I immediately fell in love with this crisp independent mountain. Sixteen miles north of Boise, Idaho, the pristine resort of Bogus Basin sits above a winding road which passes the ranch of potato king himself, J. R. Simplot. The two peaks of Schaefer Butte and Deer Point glisten down on breathtaking views. You'll find ski-in/ski-out condo lodging with 2 bathrooms, fireplace and two balconies, sleeping six comfortably; two large hot tubs, NO lift lines and plenty of friendly locals to make this place worth visiting. There are free ski lockers available and plenty of firewood. Airfare from Portland, bus, condo food, three lift passes and lodging can run as little as $300 for 4 days. For those who live closer, at certain times of the year you can purchase a season pass for only $199.
Usually two out of three days we have picture-perfect sunny skies Since I run a trip to Bogus annually through Bergfreunde Ski Club, I can personally tell you that every year Bogus has been blessed with groomed, packed and knee-high powder. Usually two out of three days we have picture-perfect sunny skies with billowing white clouds. The runs range from wide open cruisers to moguls for the bump experts. Since the addition of two high-speed quads, there may be a small wait line on the Pine Creek and Deer Point chairs, but it lasts about two minutes tops. Otherwise, anywhere else on the mountain is "wait-less." Some of the foremost runs (and my favorites) are Paradise, Liberty and War Eagle. Paradise lives up to its name, offering incredible views of Boise and the surrounding mountain range. You will burn your calves on Liberty if you ski from top to bottom without a break, but the freedom of varied terrain and steepness is awesome. War Eagle is a good all around run to warm up on for intermediates to experts, and you can choose to go between trees or stay on the open cruiser.
There's even a Nordic Trail for those cross country lovers. You won't become bored with 2,600 acres and 51 groomed alpine runs. There's even a Nordic Trail for those cross country lovers. On the weekend, the Bitterroot chair opens at 9:00 am below the Pioneer Condos, giving you another part of the mountain to explore for a new burst of exhilaration.

There are so many charming pleasures at Bogus Basin you'll want to come back. The Pioneer Inn provides the only lodging on the mountain, which means just a few short steps through the snow to a run or the popular Firewater Saloon within Pioneer Lodge. There are three other places to eat on the mountain or you can choose to dine in your condo.

There's a lot more to Bogus than meets the eye ... so come see for yourself! You never know what you'll find at Bogus. One year there was a "100 inch" party for the 108 inches of snow that dumped. Music, prizes, finger food and firewater shots were on the house. There was lots of dancing and our group donated additional dollars for the DJ to stay later so we could continue dancing.

There's a lot more to Bogus than meets the eye ... so come see for yourself!
