June 11, 2005 was a memorable day for Steve Coxen, as he
was honored with the title of FWSA Councils’ “Man of the Year.”
Steve’s achievements in the snow-riding world have been
numerous. Serving a total of seven years as President of NWSCC,
two years as President of Bergfreunde Ski Club, eight years as a
Board member of OSIA (Oregon Snowsport Industries Association ),
three years as President of FWSA, and ten years as a member of
the FWSA Board of Trustees have been some of his
accomplishments. It was Steve who urged the Council to join Far
West Ski Association in 1992. It was Steve who brought the
National Ski Council Federation to the attention of the Council
members in 1999. And it was Steve who created the Northwest
Snowsport Advocates as a way to involve the skiing public in ski
area development issues. Steve spends countless hours
volunteering his services to the sport he loves. You can even
catch him on the PACRAT race course. Steve has been a well known
figure in the Oregon ski scene for over 15 years and has many
friends throughout the country in the ski industry and ski
clubs. We are proud to have named Steve the “NWSCC Man of the
Year” for 2005.
