years |
NWSCC’s Woman of the Year for 2002 is Mary
Olhausen – a dedicated, behind-the-scenes, tirelessly hard working
person who has contributed greatly to the success of many NWSCC
events in the five years she has been a Board member. Mary has
been a member of Bergfreunde Ski Club for fifteen years, serving
on its Board as Downhill Ski Director for three years. In addition
to overseeing all trips offered by NWSCC’s largest club, Mary has
run a number of highly successful trips, including being trip
captain of Bergie’s “Timberline Takeover” for a full eight years,
co-captaining the “Silcox Sleepover” for five years, and running a
trip to Bend last year and a trip to Sunshine Village this coming
year. Mary is a dual club member, having joined Skiyente Ski Club
three years ago.
Mary has had varied duties with NWSCC,
including two years as Membership Director during which she
instituted “road trips” to visit members clubs throughout Oregon
and Washington; assisted with the GI Joe’s in-store events; and
even hosted the Clear Lake Ski Club of Texas on a Mt. Bachelor
trip, meeting them at the airport and providing personalized tour
services to welcome them to Oregon. |

Moving on with the Council, Mary became
Special Events Director three years ago, and in that capacity has
been in charge of events such as the Bachelor Blitz trip and the
highly successful Ski Fair, has overseen our participation in the
Ski Shows, and through it all has been our Web Site Liaison
between the Council, its clubs, and our Webmaster; supervising the
content of the NWSCC website, and managing the E-mail ListServe.
Through all her work and passion for
volunteering with ski related organizations, Mary manages to find
spare time to ski (including Ski Hosting for Timberline) and lots
of sailing in the summer months. |
