Barbra Parshall with children: 2004 NWSCC Woman of the Year |
|
|
 |
Barb Parshall (formerly Rogers) has been involved with skiing
activities her whole life. Barb’s parents owned Government Camp’s
The Huckleberry Inn (one of the Council’s most outstanding
supporters over the years and now owned and operated by Barb’s
brother, Ed Rogers), so Barb literally grew up on Mt. Hood. |
|
 |
She raced as a youngster, and eventually for both Lakeridge High
School and the University of Oregon. As soon as she turned 22, she
joined Skiyente Ski Club. Barb’s involvement with Skiyente has
been multi-faceted. For many years, Barb has been a leader in
Skiyente’s philanthropic activities. |
|
|
She has been the chairman of the club’s holiday fundraisers, as
well as on the committee for the Skiyente Memorial Cup Masters
races. Skiyente gives a scholarship each year named after Barb’s
daughter, Erin Nicole, who died of SIDS, and Barb works tirelessly
on the events that help the club raise funds for that scholarship. |
|
|
Barb was one of the founders of the NWSCC Scholarship program,
which recently became the Northwest Snowsports Foundation. She’s
been one of Skiyente’s outstanding “Brats” (PACRAT team) for many
years. She has served on both the NWSCC and PACRAT boards, and is
currently serving as the Commercial Membership Coordinator for
both groups. On top of all this, she works hard as a realtor (see
her ad in this directory) and is an active parent of 12-year-old
Kristina and 2-year-old Andrew, and has to keep tabs on hubby
Bruce, too. |
