The 2007 Far West Ski Association Convention was held in
Santa Clara, California, May 31-June 3, 2007.

Activities
The Convention activities began with a Pub Crawl and Train
Ride on Thursday evening and the Michael German
Memorial Golf Tournament on Friday.
Other activities on Friday included a Kayak Tour of
Monterey Bay and a Wine Tour.
The Silent Auction on Friday night had close to 70 packages to bid
on; total value of over $94,000. The Travel Expo on
Saturday morning gave delegates an opportunity to meet with ski
area representatives one-on-one to learn more about travel
opportunities to their resorts. A Multi-Media
Reception was held on Saturday afternoon featuring
segment of Abbie Kealy's movie "The Last Ridge" which can be
seen on PBS, comments from Percy Rideout, veteran of the 10th
Mountain Division during WWII, Charles Sanders, author of "The
Boys of Winter", and videos and comments from Reggie Crist on
the latest in extreme ski competition. Saturday afternoon breakout sessions
were held on topics like Club Leadership, Public Affairs
and Community Service.
The Awards Banquet was held on Saturday night. |

Individual
Service Awards
Far West Ski Association gives out awards each year for service
to FWSA and the skiing community. Debbi Kor-Lew and
Mary Olhausen were
awarded the President's Award for their work on
Convention Sponsorships and the Silent Auction. Emilio
Trampuz received the Safety Person of the Year Award.

Councils' Man & Woman of the Year
Becki and Rod Robinson represented
Northwest Council as Councils' Man & Woman of the Year.
They each received a
2 day trip for two to Big White for their participation.
A big Thank You to Big White and Silver Star for their
sponsorship of this Far West program. |

Club and
Council Awards
Mountain High (Class AAA) received
the Tollakson Award as the most outstanding club of the year [Essay],
the Wentworth Award, second place for outstanding publication
and first place for outstanding website. Bergfreunde (Class AAAA)
received the Wentworth Award, first place for
outstanding publication, first place for outstanding website,
and Tollakson Award, third place outstanding club [Essay].
Skiyente (Class A) was awarded the Tollakson Award,
second place as outstanding club of the year [Essay].
NWSCC received first place for outstanding council website
and third place for outstanding council publication. |
