FWSA Safety Contest

Far West Ski Association Safety Contest:
FWSA sponsors an annual safety contest for all club members. Any and all club members who promote safety are welcome to participate in this contest. Grand prize is a trip to Aspen! Aspen and Snowmass sponsored the first ever Far West Ski Association Safety Slogan Contest held in San Diego, offering a first prize of a trip for two to Aspen, including airfare, 7 nights lodging, and 6 days skiing with rentals! The judges considered over 120 slogans, finally deciding upon one submitted by Jo Henry, of North Island Ski Club: Ski With Pride, Let It Ride, Watch All Sides

The judges felt it had the familiar affiliation with skiing along with the inclusion of the snowboard community and the right alliteration to make it memorable

"First With Safety Awareness"

The entry submitted by Jim Ortiz, FWSA Trustee and a member of Don Diego Ski Club, took the FWSA abbreviation and converted it to a very catchy phrase: First With Safety Awareness. The judging panel chose this slogan to be the by-line for the main slogan. Katrina Laird of Aspen Ski Company was so impressed that she provided an additional 5 days of skiing for two at Aspen for Jim.
