vital to the future of the ski industry and your favorite ski areas
- MAKE YOUR VOICE HEARD! Read the information below for up-to-date
information on the improvements being requested at our local ski
areas and what YOU can do to help! The Forest Service needs to hear
from the people who use the ski areas and want to see improvements,
not just from opponents of development! You snooze and we all lose- so please help! |

49° North Mountain Resort has received approval from the US
Forest Service for its Master Development Plan. However, your help

Anthony Lakes
Ski Anthony Lakes now has approval for the construction of two
chairlifts, to increase ski facility capacity from 600 to 1,200

Mount Hood Meadows
Local
communities, concerned citizens, businesses, conservation
organizations and others have been working for years to set in
place a new vision for Mount Hood and its surrounding forests.
In 2004 Senator Wyden introduced the first of several proposals
to come that would legislate a new vision for Mount Hood. Since
2004 there have been a number of subsequent proposals varying in
size and shape from Wyden, Smith, Walden and Blumenauer. All of
the proposals have focused on protecting additional Wilderness
around Mount Hood and the Columbia Gorge and a land exchange
between Mount Hood Meadows and the US Forest Service.

Stevens Pass
Stevens Pass
submitted its new MDP Proposal to the U.S. Forest Service in
September, 2007. This long-anticipated document gives a conceptual
blueprint for improvements at the resort, ranging from new lifts and
terrain, to on mountain food facilities, parking and transportation
changes, as well as summer operations.

The Summit at Snoqualmie
The Summit at Snoqualmie has an MDP proposal to add new chairlifts, expand the guest services facilities and
provide additional parking. These improvements will improve
access existing
backcountry terrain in International Bowl and increase the amount of
advanced intermediate terrain. Core beginner areas would be
developed at Alpental, Summit West, and Summit Central. Crossover
trails would be redeveloped to provide increased connectivity

Timberline Ski Area
You
spoke, we listened!
It has been many years in the works, and now with the kick-off of
the 2007/08 ski and snowboard season, Timberline invites you to
explore the new Still Creek Basin! We are opening the lower portion
of our permitted ski area that lies between the Pucci and Stormin'
Norman chairlifts. This new network of ski trails is the largest
and most exciting development of new Timberline terrain since the
1970s. There are lots of new areas for skiers and riders of every
ability level to explore!
